about Hilary

Hilary grew up in Boston, Massachusetts with a love of stories, film and beautiful handmade things.

After earning a B.A. and Masters of English Literature at Georgetown University, she moved to New York and became a filmmaker.  She directed the Peabody Award winning documentary Craft In America: Community and the acclaimed narrative film, TULLY which won numerous festival awards and was nominated for four Independent Spirit Awards.

All the while, Hilary loved lamps.  She wired her first in high school.  One chilly winter during graduate school, she took a pottery class in a drafty yurt at a old amusement park and was hooked on ceramics.   Years later,  she put the two together and started hand building ceramic lamps.

Her simple designs are inspired by a delight in earthy elegance and handmade imperfection.
